Mission
The purpose of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) or Burrell Emotional Support Team (BEST) is to assist students who are experiencing a variety of academic, behavioral, and/or personal difficulties that interfere with daily functioning in school. BEST is a prevention and intervention program, not a punitive or disciplinary program.
Students can be referred to B.E.S.T. from a variety of sources. Referrals can be made from teachers, other school personnel, parents, other agencies and programs, and the students themselves. All referrals and services are confidential. Anyone wishing to make a referral may do so by contacting any member of the team. Once a student is identified to the team for assistance, a team member contacts a parent/guardian so B.E.S.T. can work directly with the family to provide support for student individual needs.
The following program/services are offered to the school district staff, students, and their families. Services provided encompass a variety of issues. All services are confidential.
Services include:
*Consultation and education to personnel
*Initial assessments for referred students
*Crisis/emergency intervention
*In-school support and education groups
*After care support
*Parent consultation
